WHY NEET-UG?

  •

The National Eligibility and Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) is India’s primary medical entrance examination for students wishing to study undergraduate medicine (MBBS) and dentistry (BDS). It was implemented to standardise the admissions process across the country, replacing the several entrance exams previously administered by various governments and universities. This ensures that all candidates receive a uniform and fair assessment.

NEET-UG is important for numerous reasons.

  • Uniformity: It provides a single, national-level platform for assessing pupils, guaranteeing that the evaluation criteria are consistent and objective.
  • Transparency: The centralised exam helps to decrease anomalies and malpractices in admissions, promoting transparency and merit-based selection.
  • Accessibility: It simplifies the admissions process by allowing candidates to take a single exam rather than many state or institution-specific assessments, saving time, effort, and resources.
  • Inclusivity: It provides possibilities for students from both rural and urban locations, fostering equitable access to medical education throughout the country.
